A few months back, I noticed the domain Cookinggames.com sell for $350,000. I questioned the sale. I then spoke with the purchaser Bill kara, a developer with online game websites. He said that the term was a popular games term. Well, Bill is doing something right. According to compete, the site has gone from 12k unique visitors per month to over 183k unique visitors per month. Bill, great job !!
It is a popular searched term and nice domain, but how do they make the revenue back I wonder? I see the site has adsense on it, but games ads pay little per click. Perhaps they get so many visitors all those little clicks add up, or is there some other revenue maker on these free games sites?
I’m wondering about that too. All my quick estimates of ctr and cpc come down to revenues below $1k/month with adsense, but of course I could way off here.
It is an interesting one, isn’t it! It sure gets a lot of searches but I don’t know how long it will take him to get his money back!
I mean sure it gets a lot of searches, and my niece likes playing cooking games, but I can’t imagine that it is a particularly valuable audience!
Anyway I just took over a Gamers Forum, linked to in this comment and I have to say that gaming is a frighteningly competitive area and if Bill wants my gamer forum he just needs to make me a sensible offer!
Adsense is a great resource for webmasters all over the world to monetize their websites. However, it’s not easy to jump in and start making money off of it. This is why you absolutely need some kind of guide to do it. That is where Adsense Explosion comes in. Check it out, it’s well worth it.
