Way to go Monte. From the start I thought this would be one of the best auction’s in a long time and you proved me right.
SnapNames and Moniker just closed a highly successful auction at DOMAINfest Ft. Lauderdale, with the sale of Dating.com leading the way at $1.75 million. Total sales from the live auction were nearly $2.4 million.
This is on the heels of several high-profile sales, including:

PartySupplies.com for $360,000
ScreenSavers.com for $335,000
Full results:

Dating.com should be a bit of wake up call for the industry, would have been 2-3 higher than that in years gone by in my view. Tht total sales result was good but really not much substance once you get beyond the top 5.
Paul,
it’s a great name. I wonder if it was sold as a site and if so what the revenue looked like. This will be interesting to find out if it was bought by a company like match.com or by a domainer. I have my thoughts but will wait and see.

So Rob Monsters name didnt sell? Guess no one wants them.
A-1 bought dating.com?
chris,
that was my thought, but I heard it was xedoc. I guess we will find out soon enough.
chris,
its a question of value. I assume the work epik had put into the domain has not increased the value to their asking price. This is an interesting lesson on buildouts.

Good call regarding xedoc, forgot about him 🙂
The top names were purchased by end users – not domainers
they were sold as domains, not as sites, although you will see the same content up for SEO purposes on both Dating and boardgames until they make the switch
it was a great team effort…and along with Slots.com, probably the best week any company in our space has had in a very long time.
Monte,
Great work. I had said earlier this year that there would be some incredible Generic domains sales. There are still much more to come.
congrats.
larry
great work.
